Upgrade to AstroDAO V3 Before May 25TH for Exciting Features!
Starting May 11th, all Astro DAOs will now be able to upgrade to the latest version “V3”.
Highlights:
- Upgrade: before May 25th!
- Security: v3 contracts passed Halborn audit.
- Evergreen: A new upgrade system enabling trustless auto-upgrades or opt-in auto upgrades.
- Scaling: New granular proposal types added, to aid inclusivity and DAO governance.

Upgrade your DAO to v3 before May 25th!
If you are a DAO owner or participant in a NEAR DAO launched with Astro, it is time to upgrade to V3. AstroDAO now has a quick user interface to help you propose the upgrade, which your DAO can pass. Once passed, your DAO will be on V3 code, ready for smoother experiences in the future!
IMPORTANT! To upgrade to V3, you will need to pass all upgrade proposals before MAY 25th. All DAOs that haven’t upgraded after MAY 25th will be locked into V2 code. DAOs locked in V2 will then only be able to access future functionality by creating a new DAO and transferring any/all funds.
V2 will continue to be supported in AstroDAO UI for 6 months, after that all DAOs will need to run snapshot versions of the UI or interact over CLI.
Security Audit Complete: V3 Passes!
Over the past couple months, the Astro contracts underwent exhaustive audits with Halborn, a blockchain security firm. All issues raised by Halborn were immediately remediated. We’re happy to announce that the v3 upgrade brings mitigation coverage to all identified issues. You can read more soon in the full report.
Evergreen Upgrades
All DAOs will now benefit from a new upgrade system that keeps DAOs up to date in a simple opt-in way. DAOs can now choose to be auto-upgraded when releases happen, or simply be notified when an upgrade is available. These upgrades remove the need for technical reviews by code-enforced upgrade flows. The DAO can signal their intent to upgrade, then the DAO factory will check which version the DAO should go to next. Peace of mind is here!
Scaling
Today, Astro DAOs are extremely capable but governance can be tedious. Many community members have voiced the need for better management tools. Coming in V3 is the ability for simpler and more granular proposal types. Post V3 release, scaling will take a lead role to allow DAOs to simplify proposals and reduce the total amount of proposals needed.
Composability
Specialized components building into larger structures is a computer science concept that also applies to governance. Astro allows users to build DAO structures ranging from simple committees to something as complex as the USA Constitution. The Astro V3 upgrade opens the door to even more possibilities like personal composability and DAO extensions.
